“Especially during the pandemic many parents may be asking questions such as what is normal behavior during this time? What should I be looking for?” says Paul Auchterlonie, CEO of Paradigm. “This guide can help answer some of those questions and help parents recognize what is normal, healthy behavior for teens and what is concerning.”
The tool kit guides families through a post-COVID world as the pandemic has greatly affected teens and young adults’ mental health. In fact, a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that children’s emergency department visits related to mental health went up by as much as 31% from April to October of 2020.
This mental health tool kit acts as an interactive guidebook for teens parents and mental health professionals and includes practical tips and tools to help boost mental health wellness. It even offers guides to explore and model self-care habits as a family and offers prompts on change and acceptance and resources if a teen/young adult needs help.
In addition, Paradigm just launched TELECARE – a new telehealth treatment option. TELECARE is Paradigm Treatment’s subscription-based virtual mental health treatment program that is staffed by fully licensed clinicians, is HIPAA compliant, and that can assess, treat and support those who are looking for mental health treatment from the privacy of home. The two telecare virtual programs are clinical virtual program and life skills virtual program. The clinical combines evidence-based and system-oriented therapies with 3 or 4 sessions a week which includes a full-time, license therapist offering therapeutic counseling services. The life skills virtual program is 3 sessions a week with dedicated, certified facilitators and clinicians that provide sessions/related administration.
Utilizing a blend of traditional, evidence-based, and progressive therapeutic practices, Paradigm Treatment works closely with clients and their families to address the socio-emotional underpinnings of behaviors rather than simply focusing on behaviors themselves. Paradigm’s approach focuses on the whole individual, and the unique needs of each client and family. Paradigm’s medical and clinical teams delve deep to address the root causes of mental illness including anxiety, depression, bipolar, grief, trauma, mood and personality disorders and co-occurring substance use. Clients come from diverse backgrounds and locations and each center is keenly aware of the importance of diversity among clinicians as well as treating diverse populations. Paradigm prioritizes lasting efficacy as a cornerstone of its treatment philosophy, which empowers young clients to build and hone the skills they need to lead meaningful, productive lives, long after they complete the Paradigm program.
